First annual ball at ANU

GIRLS who attended the first annual ball in the central block at Burton Hall, at the ANU on Saturday, received a racing programme for the evening.

The theme of the ball was Ascot. Guests enjoyed sherry cocktails, dinner and dancing during the evening.

Guests of’ honour included the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Sir Leonard Huxley, and Lady Huxley, Professor H. Burton, after whom the hall was named, and Mrs Burton, and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Sir Hugh Ennor, and Lady Ennor.

Maryanne Richardson, Geoff Brennan and Bill Gammage were among the students who made the arrangements and decorations for the ball.”[i]
