A FEW MEMORIES OF GARRAN HALL I lived in Garran Hall during 1966 and 1967 when I was completing 2nd and 3rd year of my Science degree. As Garran had only opened in 1966 I was among the first students to live there and everything was new.
There was little if any landscaping around the […]
That was for the Valete weekend, we had a weekend package, pre-dinner drinks, post valete entertainment, and refreshments at the annual cricket match on the Sunday. That’s about all I can remember of the weekend. (Ian Davis 2014)
I was there from mid 1973 to end 1976. Geoff Rossiter was Warden and Dr John Ritchie was deputy. Ritchie was very keen on Aussie Rules Football and Burton was a good team in those days.
I was President of the Residents Association in 1975.

I arrived at BGH in 1970, to find a well-established organisation and culture, or of course so it appeared at the time. We were not to know that from the perspective of 2015, it might now look to current students as if we ‘oldies’ were students at BGH and the ANU […]

Here are a few quick comments off the top of my head:
I arrived at start of 1st term in 1965. Burton Hall was not ready, so we spent the first few weeks in Bruce Hall. Then we moved into Burton Hall and shared rooms – two to a room. I shared with a big […]

Mike Gore becomes Warden of Garran Hall from 1975-78.
I first arrived at ANU in 1962, and rapidly became associated with Bruce Hall as a sub-warden. Bruce Hall was one of the four original University, controlled residences. Lennox House, Burton Hall and Garran Hall were the others. I became Warden of […]

[I was late: supervisor on leave until Feb, so late to get interview […]
