New meeting place for students
The new Australian National University Union Building where students and staff can eat, meet, and relax has been in use since the beginning of the 1965 *”academic year, but the building will not be opened officially by the Chancellor, Sir John Cockcroft, until April 8. Operating under an interim board of management, the building has two cafeterias where food costs compare favourably with city prices. There are spacious rooms for student meetings or dances, and amenities include billiard tables. The Students’ Representative council has its office there as well as the student paper Woroni.
